Joanne McCarthy writes in Waterford in both English and Irish. Her work is published in Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, Rattle, The Honest Ulsterman, Irish Independent New Irish Writing, Comhar, Aneas, Splonk and more. She is anthologised in Hold Open the Door, The Ireland Chair of Poetry Anthology, The Stony Thursday Book, & The Same Page Anthology. She is a Gradam Máire Mac an tSaoi,  Irish poetry distinction, awardee of 2022. She is co-founder and co-editor of the journal The Waxed Lemon and she is currently reading poetry at the Seamus Heaney Centre, Queen's University Belfast.
