Batt O'Connor was born and raised in Gleann na nGealt in West Kerry-
Gleann na nGealt, the glen of the mad people, is so called
Because there is a well in it that has a cure for madness.
Batt was published in the first edition of The Stony Thursday Book
Co-edited a short-lived magazine called “Sigh” with Mark Whelan and Anthony O Brien
Back in the 1980s
Published a Broadsheet, Windows, about the same time
Was a teacher of Mathematics, Irish and also sometimes art
Gave it all up and played music everywhere from Helsinki to Myanmar in its brief interlude of freedom
Released a solo album of original songs, Where Voices Still Sing on the Wind
Working on a new album
Claim to fame:
Jammed with Mumford and Sons, Tommy Emanuelle, Shane McGowan and Bono and the Edge and Michael Durack’s brother, Austin, to name but a few
