Alvy Carragher is an Irish poet based in Dublin. She grew up in Galway and Tipperary and has since lived in Louisiana, Dublin, South Korea, and Canada. She has published three books of poetry: What Remains the Same (2024, The Gallery Press), The men I keep under my bed (2021, Salmon Poetry) and Falling in love with broken things (2016, Salmon Poetry). Her poetry has been archived by the National Poetry Archive and she has received the support of the Irish Arts Council's Literature Bursary Award (2022 & 2024).

Her children's novel, The Cantankerous Molly Darling, won several reader's choice awards in Irish schools. As a performance poet, she was a featured reader at events like Electric Picnic, Edinburgh Fringe Fest, RTE’s Arena and Cúirt International Literary Festival. She represented Poetry Ireland, as the delegate for the Poetry Ireland Introduction Series in 2016, at a reading in the Lincoln Center, NYC. She earned an MA in Writing from the University of Galway.

She also won multiple national awards for her early writing as both the illustrator and writer for With All the Finesse of a Badger; a blog-based on the nature of growing up in rural Ireland. It was archived by the National Library of Ireland.

We are grateful for the support of The Arts Council and Limerick City & County Council.
